The Nebraska men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational on Saturday morning. The men raced first and placed 12th out of 23 teams in the 8k with 342 points. The women ran second and came in 7th place out of 22 teams in the 5k with 192 points.
Leading the men’s team was Grant Wasserman with a time of 25:48.5 coming in 48th place. He was followed by Gabe Nash (67th, 26:04.3), Hannes Fahl (103rd, 26:36.7) and Tommy Rice (105th, 26:39.4). Rounding out the roster for the Huskers was Jack Witte in 117th place with a time of 26:52.3 and Kaleb Sharp in 139th place with a time of 27:12.9. Wichita State took first with 35 points, Missouri followed with 49 points and Air Force came in 3rd with 53 points.
Jordyn Brown led the Nebraska women and came in 23rd place with a time of 18:28.5. Next in for the Huskers was Taya Fettig (34th, 18:46.9) and Kate Ebmeier (44th, 18:58.4). Rounding off the top 50 runners and the Husker line up was Erin Moore (49th, 19:11.7) and Claire Helmers (50th, 19:13.8). Missouri won the women’s race with 76 points, in second place was Nebraska-Kearney with 93 points, and third place for the team competition was Wichita State with 94 points.
Up Next: The Huskers will travel to the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. The meet will be on Friday, Sept. 26 with events set to start at 8:15 a.m. (CT).
