Ten of Nebraska tennis’ student-athletes earned Academic All-Big Ten Honors for their dedicated work on and off the court, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon. The men’s team grabbed six honorees, while the women’s squad tallied four.
Seniors Roni Hietaranta, Lars Johann and Calvin Mueller each earned their third-straight All-Big Ten Academic selections, studying psychology, management and business administration respectively. Junior Leo Linquet claimed his second honor from the conference, and Henry Bilicic and Colson Wells joined the list in their first eligible seasons.
Senior Lucy Loy joined the Academic All-Big Ten list for her third consecutive season, while Ana Zamburek added her second all-conference honor for her final collegiate year. Sophomores Reya Lee Coe and Maria Taranova both earned the academic accolade for the first time, studying criminology & criminal justice and nutrition & health sciences respectively. The women’s team was also a finalist for Nebraska's Herman GPA Award, which recognizes the team with the highest GPA. The team earned a fall semester GPA of 3.76, which comes in at third-best in team history.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team (as verified by being on the official squad list as of May 1 for spring sports), have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
