Big Red Travel to Indiana, Purdue

The #62 Nebraska men’s tennis team (13-8, 2-3 Big Ten) is set to hit the road for its final regular season away matches at Indiana and Purdue. The Huskers will face the #69 Indiana Hoosiers (14-8, 2-3 Big Ten) first, with first serve slated for 3 p.m. (CT) on Friday, April 12. The Big Red will take on the Purdue Boilermakers (6-12, 1-4 Big Ten) on Sunday, April 14 at 11 a.m. (CT). Both matches will have live stats and live streams as available.

Scouting #69 Indiana (14-8, 2-3 Big Ten)/Series History:
- The Hoosiers currently hold a 14-8, 2-3 Big Ten record, with their most recent 4-0 win over Butler.
- IU finished last season unranked with a 13-15 record, going 1-8 in Big Ten play.
- As of April 9, ranked Hoosiers include No. 74 Sam Landau, with a 17-6 record, and doubles duo, No. 64 Michael Andre and Ilya Tiraspolsky, with a 14-5 record.
- Head coach Jeremy Wurtzman is in his 10th season with the Indiana men’s tennis team. Wurtzman was named WAC Coach of The Year in 2013, and in 2019, led the Hoosiers to a national ranking of No. 37.

- Purdue finished last season unranked with a 2-20 record, going 0-9 in conference play.
- As of April 9, Purdue had no nationally ranked players.
- Head coach Geoff Young is in his second season in the role with the Boilermakers. Prior to Purdue, Young spent 15 seasons with Minnesota and has a career record of 291-247.
- Before hosting the Huskers on Sunday, Purdue will be playing Wisconsin on Friday, April 12.
- Series History: 8-5 PUR; Since their first matchup in 2001, the Big Red have gone 5-8 against the Boilermakers.

The Huskers are coming off a split weekend at home, after hosting #26 Illinois and #64 Northwestern. The Big Red fell to Illinois, 2-4 and defeated the Wildcats, 6-1. NU currently holds a 13-8 mark in the spring season, with a 2-3 record in conference play and 10-2 mark at home.

With its 13th win, the Big Red matched its total wins from the 2022-23 season. Before the 2022-23, 13 wins in a season was a program best since 2016, when the Huskers finished 14-13. Calvin Mueller’s straight-set singles win improved his spring No. 2 singles record to 9-2. Shunya Maruyama and Leo Linquet’s victory on Court Three put the duo at 8-3 on the season.

On April 9, doubles duo Anton Shepp and Nic Wiedenhorn were ranked nationally by ITA at No. 81. Also on April 9, Nebraska was ranked by ITA at No. 62 with a 13-8 record. Early this season, the Huskers claimed two-straight Big Ten honors. Shepp was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Jan. 17 and Calvin Mueller on Jan. 24. Both Shepp and Mueller were recognized for their perfect 4-0 weeks and straight-set victories.
