Three Husker Newcomers to Compete at Junior Gold

Three members of the Nebraska bowling team will compete at the 2024 Junior Gold Championships held in Detroit, Mich., July 15-20.

Karina Capron, Haley Swindle and Kayla Starr will face the top youth bowlers in the country, taking part in four qualifying rounds, an advancer’s round, final advancer’s round and match play. Each qualifying round will determine the advancers to the next round, where a second cut will be made for the final round. Five more games will be bowled to earn a top 16 spot for match play. 

Each competition in match play will be two games with the highest pinfall determining who advances and will follow the double-elimination format. The final two competitors in the winners bracket will bowl for the top seed in the stepladder finals and the winner in the elimination bracket will be the No. 3 seed.

The finals will take place July 20 and be taped and aired on CBS Sports Network, Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 4 p.m. (CT).
