Six Nebraska bowlers were honored this week, as the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) unveiled its 2023-24 NTCA All-Academic scholar athletes.
Kathryn Bowman (biological systems engineering), Alexis Buchert (nutrition, exercise and health science), Jillian Martin (undeclared), Lani Breedlove (nutrition, exercise and health science), Marissa Cosentini (psychology) and Ashtyn Yoches (pre-law, human development and family science) were recognized for outstanding academic performance posting a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or better during the 2023-24 academic year. This marks the fourth appearance for Buchert receiving the award for each of her athletic years. For Martin and Bowman, this marks second in their tenure, and first for senior Cosentini and freshman pair Breedlove and Yoches.
As a team, the Big Red was recognized by the NTCA as an All-Academic Team posting a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or higher for the academic year. Nebraska was one of 62 programs to achieve this status and ranked in the top-ten nationally as the eighth highest GPA in the country.
Additionally, five Huskers were honored in the Big Ten conference earning Academic All-Big Ten honors. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
