Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska soccer team opened conference play on Friday evening with a 1-1 tie against Wisconsin in front of 1,771 fans, the second-highest attendance in Barbara Hibner Stadium history.
With the tie, the Huskers are now 6-1-2 and 0-0-1 in Big Ten, while the Badgers are 5-1-3 and 0-0-1 in conference play.

Senior Eleanor Dale, the nation’s leader in goals scored with 13, recorded the teams’ lone finish in the first half. In the 13th minute, defender Jordan Zade dribbled downfield and sent a cross into the 18-yard box, which Dale met and shot into the back of the net past the Wisconsin goalie. The cross marked Zade’s fifth assist of the season.
In the first 45 minutes, the Huskers held the advantage in shots (7-4), shots on goal (4-2) and corners (5-0).
With the 1-0 lead, the teams were scoreless in the second half until Wisconsin’s Aryssa Mahrt scored the equalizer off the assist from Maia Richters in the 88th minute.
Overall, the Badgers held the 11-8 advantage in shots, but the Huskers led in shots on goal (5-4). Both teams were tied in corners with six apiece.

Senior Sami Hauk played the complete game and recorded three saves, increasing her season total to 34. Joining Hauk in playing 90 minutes was defenders Nicola Hauk and Lauryn Anglim, and Dale.
