#ProBigRed: Huskers in the NFL - Week 1

12 former Huskers saw action in the opening weekend of the NFL last weekend, with Trey Palmer (Buccaneers) making his NFL debut.

Cam Jurgens (Eagles) and Nick Gates (Commanders) played in the opening weekend to represent the Husker pipeline, while Palmer scored his first career NFL touchdown on Sunday at Minnesota. Palmer had two catches for eight yards, including a seven-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter of the Buccaneers’ 20-17 win over the Vikings.

Defensively, Lavonte David (Buccaneers) led the way with eight tackles, including a pair of tackles for loss on Sunday. Cam Taylor-Britt (Bengals) recorded three tackles and a pass deflection against the Browns, while Maliek Collins (Texans) posted two tackles and a quarterback hurry on the road at Baltimore.

On special teams, Brett Maher (Rams) was 6-of-8 in his field goals and extra-point attempts in his debut with Los Angeles on Sunday. Maher was a perfect 3-for-3 in extra points and converted on field goals of 38, 45 and 54 yards.
