Fort Worth, Texas- The undefeated Nebraska Rifle team will face its toughest test of the season on Saturday, when the Huskers travel to Fort Worth for a meet with No. 3 TCU and UTEP.

The Huskers (5-0) are ranked 10th nationally in this week's College Rifle Coaches' Association top-20 poll, and will be looking for their fourth win over a top-20 team. They have wins over No. 8 Ohio State, No. 12 Army and No. 18 Citadel. The Huskers are off to a 5-0 start, their best start since the 2005-06 season.
"It was great to replace one of our counting scores for our counting score towards the NCAA championships last weekend," Nebraska Coach Mindy Miles said of the Huskers' win over VMI last Saturday. This year is proving to be extremely competitive and this weekend we will look to replace one of those scores with an even higher one."
Miles will be heading back to her alma mater this weekend, as she competed for TCU during her college rifle career. As a senior, she posted an aggregate of 1,193, which was her career high and the second-best in the country that year. She earned first-team NRA and CRCA All-America honors in the smallbore, air rifle, and aggregate in 2017 and 2018.
The Horned Frogs are 4-1 on the season. They have wins against Navy, VMI, The Citadel and Army. Their lone loss came against No. 3 West Virginia. As a team, they average an aggregate score of 4,720.4 through their five matches. They are led by senior Kristen Hemphill and juniors Stephanie Grundsoee and Stephanie Allen.
The Miners are 0-2 on the season. They dropped a match to the Huskers on Oct. 9 and another to Air Force on Oct. 30. As a team, they average an aggregate of 4,545. They have had many different athletes place first in different events, including Amoret McCartney, Jennifer Windle, Isabel Brooks and Samantha Miller.
In the Huskers' most recent match, they defeated the Virginia Military Institute 4,689-4,523 on Nov. 7. Sophomores Madelynn Erickson and Cecelia Ossi both posted aggregates of 1,177, the top score across both teams. Emily Cheramie took the top spot in the smallbore with a 588 and Erickson won the air rifle with a 593.
Saturday's match with TCU begins a difficult part of the Huskers schedule, as NU also has upcoming matches against No. 1 Alaska, No. 3 TCU, No. 6 Air Force and No. 7 Akron.
Miles is ready for the team to head to this week's match: "I am confident the team will continue their momentum from last weekend and post a great score. We have had a short practice week with back-to-back travel matches but everyone has done their part and worked incredibly hard in those few days."
Following the match against TCU and UTEP, the team will be back at home to face Air Force on Nov. 20 and 21.
