Three former Blackshirts earned their spot on the podium in Super Bowl LV, and one of only two schools (LSU) to have three former players on the winning team. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, linebacker Lavonte David, and defensive lineman Khalil Davis all earned their first Super Bowl rings in 2021.
David started at linebacker and played the entire game, notching a final tally of six tackles and two pass defenses. David was crucial in the containment of Kansas City QB Patrick Mahomes and TE Travis Kelce. David was also designated as team captain.
Suh started on the defensive line and played 48 snaps, but his real impact could be felt in the pass rush and run defense. Suh recorded 1.5 sacks, including a half sack for 13 yards to seal the win over Kansas City. Suh was also instrumental in dominating the line of scrimmage.
