27 Huskers Earn Academic All-Big Ten

Twenty-seven members of the Nebraska cross country team earned Academic All-Big Ten distinction, the Big Ten Conference announced Thursday.

Abby Heffner and Margaret Pollard represent the distance team as two of Nebraska's four honorees with unblemished grade-point averages at the conclusion of the fall semester.

For the fourth time in his career, senior Mark Freyhof received the conference honor. Other seniors earning their third award include Emma Bresser, Erika Freyhof and Kaitlynn Johnson. Junior three-time honorees include Gabrielle Boucher, Ryan Martins, Ally Talpash and Bailey Timmons.

Ten Huskers picked up the honor for the second time and nine earned their first Academic-All Big Ten accolade. In recognition of their efforts in the classroom, a total of 10 members of the men's squad and 17 members of the women's squad earned the distinction.

To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
