Four Huskers Invited to NFL Combine

Four Nebraska football players earned invites to the 2020 NFL Combine, the National Football League announced on Friday, Feb. 7. Defensive linemen Darrion Daniels, Carlos and Khalil Davis and cornerback Lamar Jackson were among 337 prospects invited to the Combine, which will take place in Indianapolis from Feb. 24 through March 1.

Daniels earned an invite after anchoring the middle of the Husker defensive line from his nose guard spot in his only season at Nebraska in 2019. A native of Dallas, Texas, Daniels had a career-high 34 tackles last season while earning honorable-mention All-Big Ten honors. He also intercepted the first pass of his career and provided leadership, earning a role as team captain despite being a graduate transfer.

The Davis twins, who started at defensive end on each side of Daniels, earned NFL Combine invites following outstanding athletic careers. In addition to their football prowess, both twins were All-Americans in the discus and each brother was a four-time letterwinner in both football and track and field.

Carlos Davis totaled 125 career tackles with 18 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. An honorable mention All-Big Ten selection as a junior, Davis set career highs with 4.0 sacks and six TFLs as a senior. He started 36 games as a Husker. Khalil Davis was tabbed as a third-team All-Big Ten honoree by the league's head coaches in 2019. Nebraska's Defensive Lineman of the Year in both 2018 and 2019, Davis made 106 tackles in his career with 26 tackles for loss and 13.0 sacks, despite not being a starter until his senior season.

Jackson was Nebraska's Defensive MVP in 2019, when he earned second-team All-Big Ten honors as a senior. An Elk Grove, Calif., native, Jackson started 36 games in his career and totaled 123 tackles, including a career-high 40 stops as a senior. He also intercepted five passes and broke up 22 more in his career, including career highs of three interceptions and 12 breakups in 2019.
