Huskers Compete in Second Day of Mizzou Prelims

The Nebraska Swimming and Diving team is continuing it's four-day road trip in Columbus, Missouri. The Huskers finished the second day's preliminary races on Wednesday morning and are gearing toward the finals this evening. Eleven Husker swimmers and one diver competing in four different events qualified for the finals on Wednesday night.

Senior Tori Beeler was the highest placed Husker, finishing in first and earning the best time of the 200 IM (2:00.02) for the afternoon. Teammates Madison Coughlen and Berkeley Livingston will join Beeler in the qualifying round. Coughlen earned 22nd (2:05.50) in the race, while Livingston secured 25th (2:06.29).

In the 500 free, junior co-captain Autumn Haebig earned a trip to the finals with a good second place time (4:45.31) in the prelims. Sophomore Katelyn Kilpatrick finished in 13th (4:55.80), and teammate Maggie Berning finished in 18th (4:56.59), while Molly Rosenthal secured the 24th (4:58.38) and final spot in the qualifying round.

Junior co-captain Izzie Murray raced to the finals in the 100 butterfly with an eighth place (55.03) finish. She's joined by three of her teammates in the event, with Kaitlyn Barth, Lindsey Stalheim and Kim Lanaghen. Barth finished the 100 fly in 21st (56.20) with her teammates right behind her. Stalheim grabbed 23rd (56.50) and Kim Lanaghen swam to 27th (56.71), closing out a tight set of races for the Husker swimmers.

In diving action, sophomore Sara Troyer continues to succeed on the board. She finished in second place (295.50) in the three meter dive, clinching her spot in the finals this evening.

The team is set to continue the finals with the qualifying swimmers and divers this evening and will then conclude the second day of the Mizzou Invite.
