Huskers Fall to No. 10 Badgers, 2-0

Madison, Wis. – The Nebraska soccer team (4-9-4, 3-5-2 Big Ten) dropped a 2-0 decision to 10th-ranked Wisconsin at McClimon Track/Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The match marked the Huskers' penultimate game of the regular season, as they host Penn State next weekend. NU has 11 points in the Big Ten standings (three points for a win and one point for a tie), which puts the Huskers in a three-way tie for sixth (as of the end of their Sunday game). The top eight teams in the Big Ten standings at the end of the regular season (based on point total) advance to the conference tournament.

The Badgers (11-2-2, 7-0-1 Big Ten) moved into a tie for first place in the conference standings with Michigan at 22 points with the win. UW scored one goal in each half against the Big Red. In the 33rd minute, Emma Jaskaniec found the back of the net before Cameron Murtha scored in the 69th minute off an assist from Dani Rhodes.

At halftime, NU held a 6-3 edge in shots, but the Badgers responded with a 7-1 advantage in the second half. Senior Meg Brandt, who played the full 90 minutes, led the Husker offense with three shots individually, one of which was on goal. Mila Gretzky managed NU's other shot on goal for the match.

In addition to holding the advantage in shots during the first half, Nebraska also had a 7-1 lead in corner kicks during the opening frame. For the game, NU took eight corner kicks, compared to UW's four.

Senior goalkeeper Aubrei Corder collected four saves in 90 minutes of action. She was making her 79th career appearance, one shy of the school record for games played by a goalkeeper (Karina LeBlanc, 80).

The Huskers conclude their regular season next weekend at home when Penn State visits Hibner Stadium on Sunday. NU's Senior Day ceremony will take place before the match, set to kick off at 1:05 p.m. (CT).
