Lincoln, Neb. – Senior Meg Brandt scored two goals and the Nebraska defense recorded a shutout, as the Huskers defeated Maryland, 2-0, at Hibner Stadium on Friday night.

NU improves to 4-8-2 overall and 3-4-0 in Big Ten play. Maryland falls to 7-5-2 overall and 3-3-0 in the Big Ten.

In the fourth minute, Brandt's kick deflected off a Maryland defender and went into the back of the net to give NU an early lead. In the 37th minute, Brandt received a pass from Marissa Popoola before striking a clean shot past the Terrapin goalkeeper into the net.

Senior Aubrei Corder, making her school-record 76th start as goalkeeper, recorded two saves in 90 minutes of action. She earned her 27th career complete-game shutout (second-most in program history) and 33rd career win (tied for fourth-most in school history).

As a team, Nebraska outshot Maryland by an 8-5 margin, holding a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. NU also had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Huskers return to action on Sunday at Hibner Stadium when they host No. 21 Rutgers, starting at 1:05 p.m. (CT). It is Women and Girls in Sports Day, as the team recognizes the positive impact of athletics for women.
