Huskers Edged by Wildcats, 1-0

Lincoln, Neb. – Despite outshooting Northwestern by a 14-3 margin, Nebraska (2-6-2, 1-2-0 Big Ten) dropped a 1-0 decision to the Wildcats at Hibner Stadium on Thursday night.

The two teams played a scoreless first half, as the Huskers outshot the Wildcats by a 5-1 margin. In the second half, Nebraska managed a 9-2 advantage in shots, but Northwestern scored the lone goal of the match in the 72nd minute.

Danika Austin crossed to the middle of the field, where Madi Kennel fired a shot into the back of the net to put the Wildcats on the scoreboard. Northwestern improves to 3-5-1 (1-1-0 Big Ten) with the win.

Nebraska held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks, taking six in the first half before registering three in the second frame.

Senior goalkeeper Aubrei Corder was one of five Huskers to play the full 90 minutes on Thursday night. Corder, making her school-record 72nd start in goal, gathered two saves against Northwestern.

Sinclaire Miramontez, Olivia Brown, Brenna Ochoa and Mila Gretzky also played the entire game. Miramontez took a team-high three shots during the game. Gretzky took one of Nebraska's two shots on goal for the game. Meg Brandt, who compiled 87 minutes, recorded the Huskers' other shot on goal.

The Huskers return to action on Sunday when they host Illinois at Hibner Stadium for "Pups at the Pitch."
