Huskers Tie No. 21 Bears, 1-1

Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska soccer team (0-2-1) played No. 21 Baylor (2-0-1) to a 1-1 draw in front of 1,287 fans at Hibner Stadium on Sunday night.

Both teams scored in the first half before a scoreless second half and two overtime periods. Following a goal by Baylor's Halee Sowinski in the 27th minute, Nebraska senior Sinclaire Miramontez scored the equalizer in the 36th minute.

Miramontez, who was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List before the season, fired a shot from long range that found the upper corner of the net for NU's first goal of the regular season. It marked her fourth career goal at Nebraska.

Miramontez was one of five Huskers to play the full 110 minutes. Senior goalkeeper Aubrei Corder also played the entire game and earned one save. For her career, Corder has 193 saves, 14 away from moving into third place on NU's career chart. On Friday night, she surpassed 6,000 career minutes, becoming the third Husker keeper to reach the milestone.

The Huskers outshot the Bears by a 13-5 margin, including a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. Nebraska's shots were distributed among 10 different players. Miramontez had two shots on goal, while Meg Brandt and Marissa Popoola each registered one shot on goal. The Big Red also had the advantage in corner kicks, 10-2.

The Huskers return to action next weekend on the road when they visit Long Beach State (Friday at 9 p.m. CT) and USC (Sunday at 2 p.m. CT).
