The Nebraska beach volleyball team got back on the winning track with a pair of wins in Irvine, California on Thursday. The Huskers beat Westcliff, 5-0, and Irvine Valley, 4-1. Nebraska improved to 12-8 on the season.
Against Westcliff, all five Husker pairs swept their matches in straight sets. In the ensuing match against Irvine Valley, Madi Kubik/Mari Kurkova, Hayley Densberger/Anezka Szabo and Megan Miller/Callie Schwarzenbach all dominated their matches in straight sets. Kenzie Knuckles and Jazz Sweet battled back from a 19-21 first-set loss in their match to take sets two and three, 21-15, 15-9, respectively. Nicklin Hames and Lauren Stivrins dropped a hard-fought match, 19-21, 25-23, 15-12.
The Huskers play Colorado Mesa and Long Beach State on Friday, at 3 and 5 p.m. (CT), respectively. Both matches will be played in Long Beach.
