Murray, Ky. – The Nebraska rifle team assembled its highest smallbore effort of the season but ultimately fell short against the Murray State Racers, 4,661-4,671.
Emily Cheramie tied her second-highest score of the season (583) to lead NU in smallbore. Nina Radulovic was close behind with 582, her highest of the season. Hannah Virga tied her own season high with 580. Samantha Peterson (577) and Bailey Powell (575) rounded out the Huskers. Nebraska combined for a season-high score of 2,322.
Hannah Virga shot her highest air rifle score of the season with 593. Emily Cheramie was close behind with 589. Maddie Korthas (580), Samantha Peterson (577) and Bailey Powell (575) added consistency for the Huskers. The overall team score for air rifle was 2,339.
Murray State posted a team smallbore score of 2,318, led by Makenzie Martin’s score of 586. Barbara Schlapfer was close behind with 585. Schlapfer posted a score of 593 in air rifle to lead the Racers to a team score of 2,353.
The Huskers will compete again next weekend (Friday and Saturday) on Feb. 22-23 at the GARC Championships in Akron, Ohio. Match action is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. CT. Fans can follow along on social media.
