*-Glynn Watson Jr. went over 1,300 points today and passed Tom Baack (1,299) and Carl McPipe (1,300) for 13th place on Nebraska’s career scoring list. Watson finished with 18 points.
*-Thomas Allen had three steals today, the fourth time he has had at least three steals in a game this season.
*-Tanner Borchardt’s eight rebounds was his second-highest total of the season (9 vs. Southwest Minnesota State) and third most of his career.
*-James Palmer Jr. made three of his six three-point attempts today, marking the eighth time this season he’s hit at least three 3-pointers in a game this season.
*-Nebraska hit 37.9% of its shots today, which was the third time this season the team has hit less than 40% of its field goals. NU is 0-3 when hitting under 40% from the field in 2018-19.

“We don’t know the severity of it. It could be severe. We’re going to get an MRI, and I believe we’re going to get that done this afternoon, so we’ll know a lot more in the coming hours. I just hope for Isaac’s sake. I know if he could’ve played, he would have, so I hope for his sake he’s alright.”

On how to ensure the losses do not continue to snowball
“Right now, it feels to me and looks to me like we just can’t get out of our own way. I thought we looked like a frustrated team and a team that is just mentally not focused on, ‘hey, let’s play with great effort, let’s play with great energy.’ We’ve seen these guys play so well, but we can’t brain freeze ourselves. I think we all know what I’m talking about. We can’t have that, and it just looks to me like that’s what it is. Unless there is something undiagnosed right now that I don’t know about, which I don’t think that’s the case.”

On if the team is playing tight
“I think so. Like Isaiah [Roby] said right away, we’re just blowing opportunities. I think they feel that way during the game. We tried to just get them to focus on doing the little things. For instance, it felt to me like three or four times at least, the ball hits the rim; we got three guys and we are just looking at the ball. When you’re looking and not acting, how’s it go? There’s people that make things happen and people that wonder what happened. It looks to me like we wondered what happened.”

Opening Statement
“I was really proud of our guys’ effort for this one here today. I thought that we came in and played a really good team that’s really well coached in a tremendous environment. This is my first time coaching here, but I’ve heard so much about this environment here. It’s a beautiful place, the fans are terrific and right on top of you. That was somewhat critical for us, trying to keep them as quiet as possible and that’s hard with this environment. Give our guys a lot of credit. I know we beat a well-coached, very good team today so we’re excited about that.”

On if he felt they played a complete game
“Yeah, I thought we do, we’ll have to look at it. I’m always hesitant to say too much from the naked eye. I thought we did a much better job taking care of the ball in the second half. I thought we were smarter in the second half in some areas. We struggled to open the second half defending them, but I thought we got a lot of contributions from a lot of guys. It was probably as complete an effort as we had.”

On his team’s attitude
“I’ll be honest with you, this group has been pretty tied together. Even through as hard a stretch anyone of us could have dreamed of and I’m sure, listen, the tough times aren’t ending, but they really stayed together but I think they felt a little bit of momentum in some things going our way and that was great to see some smiles on their faces. There were a few moments where we got a little bit tight there at the end, but Luther’s (Muhammad) three and Andre’s (Wesson) loose ball time out were just critical plays down the stretch.”

On Coaches vs. Cancer
“Coaches vs. Cancer is something I’m really proud to be a part of and excited to be a part of. Everyone in here I’m sure has been impacted by cancer, and I’m excited to just kind of get more involved as a counsel member in the Coaches vs. Cancer. It is something when you’re a younger coach, you kind of admire those guys that have led the way and trailblazed in this area in terms of fundraising for research and their involvement so you almost feel compelled to as kind of the next generation of coaches to play a role in continuing to raise support and money and awareness. We’re honored to be a part of it. It’s been a good week all across the country with the sneakers, coaches wearing the sneakers and the ties.”
