Fairview Heights, Ill.- The Nebraska bowling team dominated over the weekend at the Bearcat Hammer Open. The Huskers finished 13-0 with a total pinfall of 13,367 to win the tournament title.
The Huskers went 3-0 on Sunday, starting with a victory over No. 2 McKendree 194-189,204-178,213-177, 174-214,178-194. This victory sent the Huskers straight to the championship match.
The Huskers moved on to play Vanderbilt in the championship match. The Huskers came out strong, winning the first game 208-183, but dropping the next two 187-197 and 172-202. NU fired back, winning the last three games 186-161, 224-177 and 222-201 for the tournament title.
Two Huskers were named to the all-tournament team for their performances in Fairview Heights. Senior Meghan Straub was honored for her average of 226.2 while Cassidy Ray earned a spot with her average of 212.4.
In a match with no playoff implications, the Huskers also secured a 4-0 victory of Lincoln University.
The Cornhuskers will return to the lanes next Friday through Sunday at the Track Kat Klash in Houston, Texas.
