Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska cross country team returns to action this Saturday for the Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Illinois. The women’s 5K race is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. and the men’s 8K will follow at 12 p.m.
The men are coming off a third place finish at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational. George Kusche and Mark Freyhof both finished in the top five, placing second (24:41.4) and fourth (24:48.0), respectively. Mark Freyhof’s 8K time was a personal best. Bailey Timmons also placed in the top 15, crossing the finish line 13th with a time of 25:33.3.
The women’s squad finished ninth at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational and were led by Erika Freyhof and Judi Jones. Erika Freyhof finished 12th (21:51.9) and Jones placed 18th (22:05.2) at the meet. The time of 22:05.2 was a personal best time in the 6K for Jones.

Host: The Loyola Lakefront Invitational is hosted by Loyola Marymount University. This Saturday will mark the 41st edition of the meet and the first edition of the event since 2012.
Course: Lincoln Park – Montrose Avenue Beach

Course Map (5K & 8K Map)
Starting Times: Women – 11:15 a.m. (5,000 Meters) / Men – 12:00 p.m. (8,000 Meters)
Team Scoring: The top 7 runners will count toward scoring (first five score, six and seven displace). All runners after the seventh finisher will be included in the results.
Awards: Award presentations will begin 30 minutes after the first race of the day and will run continuously. The University/Collegiate awards will begin at 12:50 p.m. The top 25 finishers and the top five teams in each race will receive awards. All award presentations will take place at the awards stage.
Timing & Results: The races will be timed and scored by the Chronotrack Timing System. Copies of results will be posted near the results area. Live results will not be available but will be posted at the conclusion of the event at lakeshoreathleticservices.com/results and at huskers.com.
