Columbus, Ohio – The Nebraska rifle team fell to Ohio State in the first match of 2018, 4,690-4,667.
The Huskers came together in smallbore to produce a score of 2,317, their second-highest of the season. Samantha Peterson was out front for Nebraska with a mark of 583. Nina Radulovic was close behind after firing a 582. Dacotah Faught (579), Emily Cheramie (573) and Kayla Gadeken (565) rounded out the squadded Huskers. Although not squadded, Hannah Virga posted a mark of 576.
Nebraska’s solid score of 2,350 in air rifle was not enough to propel them to victory. Dacotah Faught paced the Huskers with a score of 592. Samantha Peterson and Hannah Virga brought in scores of 587 and 586, respectively. Emily Cheramie’s score of 585 was a personal best. Maddie Korthas rounded out the Huskers, notching a mark of 577. Elizabeth Ewert shot a personal best (581) as a non-squadded member.
Ohio State posted an aggregate score of 2,320 in smallbore. The Buckeyes were led by a pair of 583 scores from Joshua Black and Elizabeth Dutton. The Buckeyes outscored the Huskers in air rifle with a mark of 2,370, led by Joshua Black’s match-high score of 595.
Nebraska will appear on the range tomorrow when they take on No. 10 Ole Miss. Match action will begin at 8 a.m.
