Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Nebraska rifle team fell short to Kentucky this afternoon 4,663-4,696.
The Huskers fired the highest smallbore score of the season, posting a score of 2,320 as a team. Freshman Emily Cheramie led the charge against the Wildcats with a career-high score of 585. Dacotah Faught was not far behind with a season-high score of 581. Hannah Virga (578), Samantha Peterson (576) and Nina Radulovic (569) rounded out the Huskers. Kayla Gadeken, though not squadded, fired a career high score of 581.
Dacotah Faught set the example for Nebraska in air rifle, tying her own career-high score of 596. Hannah Virga notched a score of 584 and Samantha Peterson fired a score of 583. Elizabeth Ewert brought in a career-high score of 580. Maddie Korthas also fired a 580 to round out the Huskers. NU earned a total score of 2,343.
Kentucky scored 2,332 as a team in air rifle and 2,364 in air rifle. Freshman standout Henrik Larsen paced the Wildcats in both disciplines, firing a score of 591 in smallbore and 597 in air rifle.
Nebraska will face Kentucky again on Sunday, Nov. 19, as well as Ohio State and Air Force. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m. CT.
