Huskers Tie No. 7 Nittany Lions, 1-1

Lincoln, Neb. – In a match that featured a two-hour and 32-minute lightning delay, the Nebraska soccer team (6-3-1, 0-1-1 Big Ten) played No. 7 Penn State to a 1-1 draw at Hibner Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore goalkeeper Aubrei Corder collected a season-high four saves in 110 minutes of action, including a save as time ran out in double overtime to preserve the tie. It marked her 100th career save at Nebraska, as she became the ninth Husker to reach the milestone.

Penn State (7-2-1, 3-0-1 Big Ten) struck first when Charlotte Williams scored off an assist from Frannie Crouse in the 25th minute. In the 38th minute, the match was suspended with a lightning delay, which lasted two hours and 32 minutes. In all, Sunday’s match spanned four hours and 46 minutes.

Nebraska tied the score before halftime with Haley Hanson’s header off an assist from Sinclaire Miramontez in the 45th minute. The goal marked Hanson’s fifth of the season, a total that leads the Huskers in 2017.

The Huskers return to action next weekend on the road. NU battles Michigan State (Friday at 5 p.m.) and Michigan (Sunday at 1 p.m.).
