Game Notes

The game marked Nebraska's sixth consecutive game against a ranked opponent...each of NU's first seven games have come against teams currently ranked in the top 25...the Huskers have played three of their first seven games against top-three opponents...Nebraska has started a season 0-7 for the first time in program history.

Tallahassee, Fla. - An eight-run third inning powered No. 3 Florida State to a 9-0 victory over the Nebraska softball team on Saturday at JoAnne Graf Field.

The loss was Nebraska's third to a top-three opponent this season, and marked the Huskers' sixth straight loss to a ranked foe. Junior right-hander Kaylan Jablonski (0-3) took the loss for Nebraska (0-7), allowing eight runs (six earned). Junior left-hander Taylor Kadavy relieved Jablonski to make her season debut, allowing one run on two hits in one-third of an inning.

Florida State (9-0) remained undefeated behind left-hander Meghan King (4-0), who threw 4.0 shutout innings, allowing only two hits before Tessa Daniels came on to pitch a scoreless fifth inning to wrap up the victory.

Offensively, junior outfielders Gina Metzler and Taylor Kadavy produced Nebraska's lone hits. Metzler finished 1-for-2 while Otte was 1-for-1. The Seminoles out-hit the Huskers, 8-2, while both teams committed an error.

After a scoreless first two innings, Florida State scored eight times in the bottom of the third. A pair of walks put Seminoles on first and second for Ellie Cooper, who delivered an RBI double. All-American Jessica Warren followed with an RBI single before All-American Alex Powers added a two-run double. Leading 4-0, a bunt single, a stolen base and a third walk loaded the bases with Seminoles with only one out. A Husker throwing error then allowed two more runs to score, before an RBI single and an RBI ground out put Florida State on top 8-0.

The Seminoles tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth, greeting Kadavy with a single and an RBI double before Kadavy recorded NU's lone strikeout of the game.

Nine runs were more than enough support for King, who retired 12 of the final 13 batters she faced.

Nebraska concludes its stay at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Sunday with a rematch against No. 3 Florida State at 11:30 a.m. (Central).
