West Point, N.Y. --- The No. 8 Nebraska rifle team shot an excellent day in air rifle to come from behind and win a close battle against eleventh-ranked NC State on Sunday by a score of 4,678-4,665.
The Huskers trailed 2,315-2,310 after smallbore, despite tremendous efforts by Samantha Peterson (581) and Jaycee Carter (579), who led the way for Nebraska. Rachel Martin and Dacotah Faught notched 576 and 574, respectively, while Nina Radulovic scored 571. Rachel Yager, competing individually, earned a career-high score of 570. Sarah Sutton, also competing individually, tied her personal-best score with 564.
Faught led the comeback, firing 595 in air rifle to help the Huskers outscore the Wolfpack 2,368-2,350. Martin also played a huge role in the Husker victory, shooting 594. Peterson pitched in 590, while Nina Radulovic earned 589 and Carter added 584.
Lucas Kozeniesky and Lauren Phillips led NC State. Kozeniesky tallied 597 in air rifle, while Phillips scored 586 in smallbore.
Nebraska is back in action tomorrow when the team faces Army West Point at 8 a.m.
