Huskers Drop 3-0 Decision at No. 17 Minnesota

Minneapolis, Minn. – The Nebraska soccer team (9-5-1, 3-3-1 Big Ten) fell to No. 17 Minnesota, 3-0, at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Huskers fell behind in the 17th minute when Minnesota’s Kellie McGahn scored off an assist from Josee Stiever. The Golden Gophers pushed the lead to 2-0 when Julianna Gernes scored off a Molly Fiedler assist in the 23rd minute.

Simone Kolander scored Minnesota’s third goal shortly before the final buzzer. Minnesota improves to 11-3-1 with the win, including a 5-1-1 mark in Big Ten play.

Nebraska managed eight shots for the game, six of which the Huskers took in the second half. Senior Caroline Flynn led the NU offense with three shots. Freshman goalkeeper Aubrei Corder earned three saves in 90 minutes of work.

The Huskers return home to host Illinois and Northwestern at Barbara Hibner Stadium next weekend. NU battles the Fighting Illini on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. (CT) before squaring off with the Wildcats on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on BTN Plus on BTN2Go.
