Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska soccer team (10-5-2, 4-3-2 Big Ten) and No. 22 Northwestern (13-1-2, 6-1-2 Big Ten) tied 0-0 in front of 973 fans at Barbara Hibner Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Huskers outshot the Wildcats, 17-5, which included a 10-1 advantage in the first half, but neither team could find the back of the net. Nebraska also edged Northwestern in shots on goal, 4-2.
Junior Haley Hanson led the Husker offense with six shots, two of which were on goal. Junior Alli Peterson had four shots, one of which was on goal. Senior Courtney Claassen also registered a shot on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Aubrei Corder earned her second clean sheet of the weekend after blanking Illinois on Thursday night. Corder, who collected two saves on Sunday, has seven shutouts this season.
The Huskers held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks, which included two in double overtime, but the Wildcat defense cleared both. Northwestern goalkeeper Lauren Clem earned her 12th shutout of the season in 16 appearances.
The Huskers visit Rutgers next weekend on Saturday, starting at 6 p.m. (CT). The game will be streamed live on BTN Plus on BTN2Go.
