Huskers Down Jayhawks in Double Overtime, 1-0

Lincoln, Neb. – For the second consecutive game, true freshman Brenna Ochoa scored the game winner in double overtime for the Nebraska soccer team. This time, it gave the Huskers a 1-0 triumph over Kansas in front of 1,487 fans at Barbara Hibner Stadium on Friday night.

With less than 30 seconds left in extra time, Ochoa scored from 20 yards out to break the scoreless tie and improve NU to 4-1 on the season. The Omaha, Neb., native scored her first career goal five days ago in double overtime at Oregon State. Freshman goalkeeper Aubrei Corder, making her fifth start, set a season high with seven saves to earn her second shutout of the 2016 campaign. Corder has 23 saves this season, while allowing three goals over a five-game span to begin her Husker career.

The Huskers continue their home stand on Sunday against Saint Louis, with the game set to kick off at 7:05 p.m. The Lincoln Zoo will be on-site before the game with an assortment of animals for fans to interact with, as part of National Wildlife Day.
