Nebraska track and field rising sophomore Cale Wagner finished eighth in the decathlon at the IAAF World U20 Championships on Wednesday in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Wagner scored 7,510 points representing the United States. The Seward native set personal bests in both the javelin (173-4, 52.84m) and 1,500 meters (4:35.67).
In the women's javelin throw, Husker Brittni Wolczyk was 14th overall. Representing Canada, Wolczyk finished seventh in her qualifying group, just missing a top-six finish that would have advanced her to the final round. Wolczyk's best throw was 169-7 (51.69m).
