EUGENE, Ore. - Five members of the Nebraska track and field team earned second-team All-America honors on Thursday at the NCAA Track & Field Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field.

Freshman Brittni Wolczyk posted her best javelin throw - 166-7 (50.77m) - on her second attempt to finish 11th overall in the competition. She earned second-team All-America honors with her top-16 finish. Sarah Firestone finished 16th and also earned second-team All-America honors for the first time. Firestone's best throw was 161-7 (49.26m) on her second attempt.

At 13-9 1/4 (4.20m), she hit the bar on the way down on her second attempt and was unable to clear on her third attempt. Andrie earned second-team All-America honors for the first time in her career.

Sophomore Cody Walton earned second-team All-America honors in his first trip to nationals after scoring 7,567 points in the decathlon to finish 12th overall. After starting the day in 18th place, Walton steadily climbed the standings throughout day two, thanks in part to a javelin season best of 214-9 (65.46m) that put him third in the event and 13th overall. He also fared well in the pole vault, where he tied for ninth by clearing 15-5 (4.70m). He closed out the day with a seven-second PR in the 1,500 meters, 4:48.75, to climb to 12th in the final standings.

Tierra Williams posted a long jump of 20-2 1/4 (6.15m) on her first attempt and finished in 16th place to earn second-team All-America honors in the outdoor long jump for the second straight season. She will compete in the triple jump on Saturday. Jazmin McCoy also put forth her best effort on her first attempt - 19-4 3/4 (5.91m) - and finished 22nd.
