Huskers Drop Road Match at No. 3 Ohio State

Columbus, Ohio - The Nebraska women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback at No. 3 Ohio State on Sunday. The Huskers slipped to 17-6 overall and 4-5 in the Big Ten.

The Big Red battled through doubles action starting out ahead in No.3 doubles. Katerina Matysvoa and her partner Mackenna Maddox-Herr pulled a quick two points against OSU's Francesca Di Lorenzo and Olivia Sneed. But the Buckeyes rallied for six straight points to take the match.

Nebraska's No. 1 doubles tandem of Maggy Lehmicke and Lisa Andersson fell 6-1 to No. 3 Miho Kowase and Anna Sanford to give Ohio State the doubles point. The Buckeyes added a win at No. 2 doubles to complete the sweep.

In singles play, which featured a trio of Buckeyes in the national rankings, Lehmicke fought through two close sets before falling 6-3, 6-4 to No.4 Di Lorenzo at the No.1 spot.

Andersson fell 6-4, 6-2 to No. 79 Sandy Niehaus at No. 4 singles, before Sydney Harlow dropped a 6-1, 6-2, decision to No. 99 Sneed at No. 6 singles. Those four team points were enough to give the Buckeyes the win.

At No. 2 singles, Nebraska's Hanna powered her way to a 6-3 first-set win before Kowase rallied for a 6-2, 1-0 (10-5) win to complete the 7-0 decision. Hanna’s match was the last to conclude and the only matchup to advance to three sets.

Nebraska will honor its three seniors as they return home for its final two home matches of the spring season next weekend. The Huskers face off against Michigan State (April 15) for senior night and Michigan (April 17), before traveling to the Big Ten Championships in East Lansing, Mich., Thursday, April 28, through May 1.
