Lincoln - The Nebraska men's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 victory over Northern Colorado on Saturday at the Dillon Tennis Center.
The Huskers, who notched their fourth consecutive victory, improved to 9-4 overall on the season.
The Huskers started strong by claiming the doubles points. At No. 2, Scott Elsass and Marc Herrmann stormed to a 6-3 win over the Bears' Cassell King and Jacob Sheldon. NU clinched the point at No. 3, as Ford Zitsch and Tomislav Antoljak teamed up for the first time in dual action for a 6-2 victory over UNC's Alex Clerihew and Hayden Cramer. At the No. 1 position, brothers Dusty and Toby Boyer battled their way to a 6-4 win over Northern Colorado's Eric Schuermans and Connor Finerty. The Boyer brothers are ranked No. 66 nationally.
In singles competition, Zitsch took control early at No. 5 against Clerihew, posting a 6-0 sweep in the first set, before finishing off the straight-set win with a 6-4 edge in the second. Herrmann also dominated at No. 2, pushing Nebraska's team edge to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over King.
At the No. 1 position, Dusty Boyer rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win over Schuermans to secure the team victory for the Big Red.
NU's Andrew Dzulynsky post another straight-set win with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Cramer at No. 4, before Chris Schindler added a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win over UNC's Sheldon.
Toby Boyer completed the team sweep for the Huskers, but surrendered the only set of the day to UNC's Finerty. The tough match at No. 3 began with Boyer dropping the first set, 3-6, before rallying for 6-4 win in the the second set. In the final set, Boyer went 1-0 (10-6) to capture the win and close the match.
The Huskers return to the Dillon Tennis Center later this evening to take on Southwest Baptist at 6.
