Game Notes

Nebraska stranded 11 runners in the game, one shy of its season high...Emily Lockman earned her first save of the year...the win was Rhonda Revelle's 900th career victory...Kiki Stokes and Alicia Armstrong each had multi-hit games...Armstrong and Kaylan Jablonski each had multliple RBIs...with her two hits, Armstrong became the 10th Husker to total 200 career hits.

Tempe, Ariz. - The 23rd-ranked Nebraska softball team used a three-run sixth inning to rally for a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over Ohio State in a non-conference matchup Saturday in Tempe, Ariz.

The Huskers trailed 4-2 before scoring three times with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. The win moved Nebraska to 14-6 on the season and marked the 900th career victory for Husker head coach Rhonda Revelle.

Junior right-hander Cassie McClure (8-2) earned the win for Nebraska, allowing one run on three hits in 3.2 innings of relief. Senior right-hander Emily Lockman picked up her first save with 2.0 scoreless innings of relief. Sophomore right-hander Kaylan Jablonski earned the start and allowed three runs in 1.1 innings.

Offensively, seniors Kiki Stokes and Alicia Armstrong each produced two hits, with Armstrong finishing 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Jablonski was 1-for-3 at the plate with the game-winning two-run double that capped the three-run sixth inning.

Shelby Hursh (5-3) took the loss for Ohio State (10-6), allowing one unearned run in 1.1 innings of relief.

Ohio State grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Cammi Prantl and Erika Leonard hit back-to-back home runs on consecutive pitches.

Nebraska answered back in the top of the second. Freshman Alyvia Simmons reached on a one-out single before Stokes blooped a two-out single to shallow left field. Stokes then stole second base and Ohio State elected to intentionally walk junior MJ Knighten to load the bases with two outs. Armstrong made the Buckeyes pay when she grounded a two-run single up the middle to tie the game at 2-2.

Ohio State came right back in the bottom of the second, using a squeeze bunt and an RBI double to take a 4-2 lead. The Buckeyes threatened to add more with runners on first and second and two outs, but Simmons made a diving catch in right field to end the inning.

Neither team scored again until Nebraska's three-run sixth inning. The first two batters were quickly retired before Stokes singled. Knighten then drew a walk before Armstrong grounded an RBI single through the left side that trimmed the lead to 4-3. An error allowed Knighten to go to third and Armstrong to second before Jablonski blooped a two-run double to shallow left center that put Nebraska on top, 5-4.

Lockman then entered the game and allowed only a pair of singles over the final two innings, ending the game with Nebraska's second double play of the game.

Nebraska wraps up play at the Louisville Slugger Invitational on Sunday at 11 a.m. (Central) against Georgetown.
