Nebraska Sweeps SDSU, 7-0

Lincoln, Neb. -- The Nebraska women's tennis team produced an impressive debut performance Friday, sweeping South Dakota State, 7-0, in the Huskers' first match at their brand new home, the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.

In doubles play, Maggy Lehmicke and Lisa Andersson blanked SDSU's Iasmin Rosa and Ffion Davies, 6-0, at the No. 1 spot. Nebraska secured the doubles point when Mary Hanna and Vasanti Shinde posted a 6-3 win and Katerina Matysova and Mackenna Maddox-Herr won their match, 6-3.

In singles action, Lehmicke rolled past Iasmin Rosa, 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot to complete a 2-0 day. Hanna won a tight first set, 7-5, before claiming a victory at the No. 2 spot with a 6-2 win in the second set. Andersson earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot and Matysova was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at No. 4 singles. Shinde was victorious at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-3, and Sydney Harlow closed out the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.

The Huskers improved to 1-0 in 2016, while moving to 2-0 all-time vs. South Dakota State. Nebraska returns to action next Friday against Eastern Michigan at 3 p.m. at the Dillon Tennis Center.
