Charleston, S.C. — The Nebraska rifle team gets it second win this weekend after outshooting Army West Point on Sunday by a score of 4,663-4,616.
Denise Martin was the top performer for the Huskers in smallbore. The senior finished with 581. Rachel Martin provided support with a 578, while Nina Radulovic fired a 572. The team finished with a smallbore score of 2,300.
Nebraska has been performing exceptionally well in air rifle all season, and Sunday’s match was nothing different. Hannah Virga tallied a 597. She holds the program's record for the highest air rifle score by a freshman. In addition, she, along with R. Martin, hold the school record for highest air rifle score (597) ever produced by a Husker, across all grade levels. Jaycee Carter and Nina Radulovic each produced a score of 589, while D. Martin finished with 588. As a team, the Huskers had an air rifle score of 2,363.
With this win, the Huskers are 3-3 on the season. The team has a bye week, but will be back in action on Nov. 14 when Nebraska hosts Kentucky at the NU Rifle Range for the first home match of the season. The match is set to begin at 8 a.m.
