Stillwater, Okla.- The Nebraska women’s tennis team fought hard main draw and consolation doubles, as well as sign-up singles action on Saturday, Oct. 17, to end its weekend at the ITA Central Regional Championships with four more wins.
The Nebraska women’s tennis team fought hard to end the weekend on a good note, participating in main draw and consolation doubles, as well as a sign-up singles bracket, to bring home five more wins at the ITA Central Regional Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Showing competitive dedication, freshman doubles pair Elizabeth Gould (Atlanta, Ga.) and Sydney Harlow (Omaha, Ne.) stormed through a consolation doubles match over Florencia Magni and Elif Gabb of South Dakota State. Gould and Harlow finished the match with an 8-4 score to bring home the first Saturday victory for the Huskers. Gould went on to produce another Big Red win for the weekend, hanging on to her second set to claim the 6-2, 7-5 victory over Elif Gabb of South Dakota State.
Also snagging a win in sign-up singles for Nebraska was Katerina Matysova (Erding, Germany), who stormed over Missouri’s Brittany Lashway securing a 6-4, 6-4 finish. This was Matysova’s second win of the weekend.
The fourth and final win of the day came from Lisa Andersson (Varberg, Sweden), who pulled a skilled 6-1, 6-0 win over Ann-Christine Link of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville to cap off the Husker’s weekend at the ITA Central Regionals championships.
