Boyer, Dzulynsky Advance to Round of 16

Fayetteville, Ark. - The Nebraska men's tennis team entered the second day of competition in the ITA Regional Championships with four of its seven competitors participating in the round of 32. Two of the members, Dusty Boyer and Andrew Dzulynsky managed to pull victories allowing them to continue into the next round of competition. 

Doubles competition also began on Friday where the duos of Bradford Zitsch and Andrew Dzulynsky, brother pair of Dusty Boyer and Toby Boyer, and Scott Elsass and Marc Herrmann. Unfortunately none of the teams were able to make it in the continuation of doubles competition for the rest of the championship tournament. 

Beginning the day on the right foot, Andrew Dzulynsky came back for the second day of play completing another successful win. Matched up against Robin Haden of Iowa, Dzulynsky produced a score of 6-2, 6-2 over Haden pushing him on to the third day of competition where he will play Vinny Gillespie of Drake at 10:30 a.m.  

Dusty Boyer also saw a victory today against Dylan McCloskey of Tulsa. Boyer and McCloskey had a back and forth match where Boyer took the first set easily with a score of 6-1. In the second set McCloskey came back to win over Boyer 3-6. Boyer came back to put the hammer down in third and final score with a 6-1 mark. Boyer will continue in the third day of competition against Oklahoma State's Julian Cash at 10 am.

Vasileios Stavropoulos saw playing time on Thursday against No. 10 seeded Michael Redlicki of Arkansas. Redlicki took the upper hand early producing a total score of 6-2, 6-0 over Stavropoulos. 

Marc Herrmann took on Felix Corwin of Minnesota in the singles competition for the Huskers as well. Hermman fought hard in the first set where Corwin took the win 7-5 who then came back in the second 6-2 over Herrmann. 

In doubles competition, duo Bradford Zitsch and Andrew Dzulynsky competed against Iowa's Lefteris Theodorou and Jake Jacoby going 8-6. In their second round, Zitsch and Dzulynsky took on Oklahoma State's Arjun Kadhe and Julian Cash. Being the No. 1 seed, Kadhe and Cash used their momentum to take over the Husker duo 8-5. 

The No. 8 seed brother duo of senior Dusty Boyer and freshman Toby Boyer made their debut as a team against Austin Robles and Jacob Herndon after a bye in the first round of doubles play. The teams had a rough fight that led to tie-breaker ending in the favor of the Arkansas pair with a score of 8-7(5).

Scott Elsass and Marc Herrmann took on Drake's Tom Hands and Calum MacGeoch where the Huskers took the win 8-3 over Drake. In their second match however, Elsass and Herrmann Wichita State's Herozen and Enoul ending their play in a loss of 8-4 to Wichita State.
