NU Begins Season Against Air Force, West Virginia

The sixth-ranked Nebraska rifle team begins the 2015-16 season this weekend with back-to-back matches in Colorado Springs, Colo.  The team will face No. 7 Air Force on Saturday, Oct. 10 and No. 1 West Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 11.

Last season, Nebraska fell to Air Force 4,648-4,667.  Overall though, Nebraska has a 22-9 record against the Falcons.  The team will look to improve that record on Saturday.

On Sunday, NU takes on defending national champion West Virginia.  The Huskers are looking to pull off the upset and bring home a win against the Mountaineers.

The Huskers return three All-Americans: Denise Martin, Jaycee Carter and Rachel Martin who claimed the 2015 individual smallbore championship at the NCAA Championships.

NU also returns seniors Magdalena Mical, Marissa Major and Alexandrea Lorentz. The team welcomes five freshman: Hannah Virga, Rachel Yager, Nina Radulovic, Katie Brown and Jordan Miller.

Both matches are set to begin at 9 am.

Note: The Huskers moved from No. 5 to No. 6 in the pre-season poll because some teams have already competed and those performances influenced this week's rankings.
