Nebraska posted its 35th victory of the season...NU has won at least 35 games in 15 of the last 18 seasons and 21 times in school history...the Huskers won their 60th NCAA Tournament game, improving to 60-48 all-time int he postseason, including a 50-31 record in NCAA Regional play...according to available records, Kaylan Jablonski became the first Husker freshman pitcher to throw a solo shutout in the NCAA Tournament...MJ Knighten had two hits to become the fifth Husker to produce an 80-hit season.

Baton Rouge, La. - Freshman right-hander Kaylan Jablonski fired a two-hit shutout and sophomore MJ Knighten drove in three runs, as the Nebraska softball team stayed alive at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional with a 5-0 victory over Texas Southern on Saturday afternoon.

In tossing the second shutout of her career, Jablonski (8-6) became the first Husker freshman to throw a shutout in the NCAA Tournament, according to available records. Jablonski allowed only a single and a double, and Texas Southern got only two runners to second base in the game and did not get a runner to third base until two outs in the top of the seventh. An Omaha native, Jablonski added seven strikeouts and walked only one in her NCAA Tournament debut, while retiring 21 of the 24 hitters she faced.

Offensively, sophomore MJ Knighten went 3-for-4 with three RBIs out of the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Junior Kiki Stokes - the Huskers' leadoff hitter - went 1-for-2 with a triple, a pair of walks and a run scored, while freshman Laura Barrow was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, a walk and two runs scored out of the No. 9 spot in the lineup. Senior Steph Pasquale added Nebraska's third triple and drove in a pair of runs.

With the win, Nebraska advanced to Saturday night's elimination matchup against No. 5 national seed LSU, which lost a 1-0 decision to Arizona State in the first game of the day. Texas Southern ended its season with a 25-18 record.

Nebraska jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Stokes led off with a triple and scored on an RBI single from Knighten. A stolen base, a one-out single from Pasquale and a walk to classmate Kylee Muir loaded the bases with one out. But the Huskers were unable to add to their lead as a strikeout and a ground out ended the threat.

In the bottom of the second, Barrow and Stokes drew back-to-back one-out walks and both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch. But the Huskers again failed to capitalize on the opportunity, striking out and popping out to end the inning.

The Huskers capitalized on another scoring opportunity in the bottom of the fourth to take a 2-0 lead. Barrow tripled with one out before Stokes walked. Knighten then put down a perfect squeeze bunt that she beat out for an RBI single. Nebraska had a chance for more with runners on first and second and only one out, but a pair of fly outs ended the inning.

Nebraska added three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Barrow doubled with one out and scored on a two-out, RBI single from Knighten. Junior Alicia Armstrong then walked before Pasquale lined a two-run triple to left center.

The Huskers out-hit the Lady Tigers, 8-2, and four of Nebraska's eight hits went for extra bases.
