Huskers Sweep Omaha 7-0

Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska men's tennis team took on the Omaha Mavericks on Saturday evening where they won 7-0 in the second match of the day. The No. 65 Huskers continue their season with a 7-5 season mark. 

The team began the evening off to a strong start by winning the doubles point and winning at every position. At No. 1 Dusty Boyer and Marc Herrmann took on the Maverick's Colin Buckley and Nathan Greteman where they competed in a close match, ultimately winning 8-6. Scott Elsass and Bradford Zitsch took on the No. 2 position against Ignace Warson and Erik Anderson also finishing 8-6. At No. 3 Chris Schindler and Court Clark saw their first play of the season, taking on Marko Minic and John Ellis and emerging victorious with a 8-4 mark. 

With the advantage of the doubles point, Linus Erhart began the singles sweep at No. 3 with a win over Omaha's Marko Minic in two quick sets of 6-1, 6-1. 

Following, Marc Herrmann competed against Erik Anderson at No. 2 where he went 6-3 in the first set and continued to put the hammer down, going 6-0 in the second.

Taking on the No. 1 position, Dusty Boyer followed in his teammates footsetps where he went 6-3, 6-1 in tough competition against Colin Buckley and securing the win for the team putting them at 4-0.

At No. 4, Ford Zitsch returned to the singles lineup where he played a competitive John Ellis. Zitsch took the first set in a swift 6-1 followed by a closer 6-4 in the second set. 

Charlie Shin played at No. 5 for the first time this season, where he competed against Ignace Warson. Shin won multiple points with his serves ultimately winning 6-3, 6-2. 

Chris Schindler also saw his first singles match of the season at No. 6 against Nathan Greteman resulting in a win in two competitive sets going 6-4, 6-4. This ended the competition putting the Huskers at their final score of 7-0. 

The Huskers will continue their season on Fri. March 20 against the Wisconsin Badgers in Madison, Wis. at 3 p.m.
