Game Notes
Madi Unizcker's fifth-inning double was her first career hit...Nebraska has lost four consecutive games for the first time since May of 2012.

Tallahassee, Fla. - The 19th-ranked Nebraska softball team was unable to muster much offense against Western Kentucky ace Miranda Kramer, the reigning National Player of the Week, as the Huskers dropped a 5-1 decision to the Lady Toppers on Saturday afternoon.

Nebraska struck out a season-high 10 times and was held to a season-low one run. Kramer (4-2), coming off a 2-1 loss to No. 6 Florida State on Friday, allowed a season-high seven hits and surrendered a run for just the third time in six starts this season.

Both teams managed seven hits apiece in the game, but the Lady Toppers made more of their chances to improve to 5-3 on the year. Nebraska dropped to 4-5 with its fourth straight loss. Freshman right-hander Kaylan Jablonski (0-1) suffered the first loss of her career, allowing two runs on two hits in 2.0 innings. Junior right-hander Emily Lockman pitched the final 5.0 innings and allowed only one earned run.

For the fourth time in five games, Nebraska found itself trailing at the end of the first inning. Two of the first three Lady Toppers to bat in the bottom of the first inning walked before Brooke Holloway delivered a two-out, two-run double to give Western Kentucky a 2-0 lead.

Western Kentucky added two more runs in the bottom of the third. The Lady Toppers used a pair of walks and two Husker errors to plate two unearned runs and double their lead to 4-0.

The Huskers got their first runner to third base in the top of the sixth inning. Sophomore MJ Knighten reached on a one-out bunt single before freshman Madi Unzicker followed with a double, her first career hit. Senior Kylee Muir then delivered an RBI single to right field to cut the lead to 4-1, but the Huskers left runners stranded at second and third.

Western Kentucky got the run back in the bottom of the sixth, scoring on a two-out infield single when sophomore shortstop Alicia Armstrong lost a pop up in the sun.

In the top of the seventh, junior Mattie Fowler singled and classmate Kiki Stokes was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second with only one out, but the Huskers were unable to rally.

Offensively, Knighten produced two of Nebraska's seven hits and scored the Huskers' lone run, while Muir drove in Nebraska's only run. Unzicker had Nebraska's lone extra-base hit with her double.

The Huskers hope to avoid a winless stay in Tallahassee when the Huskers wrap up play at the Unconquered Invitational on Sunday with an 11:30 a.m. (Central) matchup with No. 6 Florida State.
