Game Notes
Kylee Muir hit her first homer of the season to leadoff the top of the seventh inning...the homer marked the first earned run FSU pitcher Jessica Burroughs had allowed in 22.0 innings this season.

Tallahassee, Fla. - Despite an outstanding outing from junior right-hander Emily Lockman, the 19th-ranked Nebraska softball team fell to No. 6 Florida State, 4-1, Friday night on the Seminoles' home field.

Lockman pitched well, allowing a tough-luck two-run double in the bottom of the first inning that ultimately proved to be the difference. With runners on first and second and two outs in the bottom of the first, Florida State's Alex Powers hit a blooper down the left field line. Nebraska sophomore left fielder Kat Woolman made a nice diving effort to catch the ball and although she would up well in foul territory, the ball was ruled fair leading to the decisive two-run double.

Lockman (1-2) shut the Seminoles down from there, until a pair of Husker errors led to two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth. Although she took the loss, Lockman allowed only two earned runs while tossing her second complete game of the year.

Offensively, the Huskers were held to a season-low three hits. Senior Kylee Muir provided Nebraska's lone run with a towering solo home run to begin the seventh inning. Senior Steph Pasquale, freshman Laura Barrow and Woolman provided the Huskers' other three hits.

Nebraska made two rally attempts in the game. Trailing 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Pasquale singled and Muir walked. Woolman then hit a towering double to the gap in left center. Pasquale held up to make sure the ball wasn't caught and then was thrown out at home on a close play. A ground out then ended the inning.

After allowing two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth, Muir blasted a leadoff home run in the top of the seventh. Trailing 4-1, freshman Laura Barrow reached on a one-out single but the Huskers were unable to bring the tying run to the plate.

Nebraska fell to 4-3 with the loss, while Florida State improved to 5-1 with its third win over a ranked opponent this season. Jessica Burroughs (2-1) earned the win, despite allowing her first earned run of the year. Burroughs fired a four-hitter in a complete-game effort.

Nebraska returns to action on Saturday with a pair of games at the Unconquered Invitational. The Huskers face Georgia Tech at 9 a.m. (Central) before taking on Western Kentucky at approximately 11:30 a.m. (Central).
