Horned Frogs Outlast Huskers

Lincoln - Nebraska’s Alex Lorentz smashed her previous personal-best score in smallbore by seven points, firing a 584 against No. 4 TCU on Saturday.

Jaycee Carter tied her career-best air rifle score of 593 against the Horned Frogs as well, but the No. 7 Huskers fell to the fourth-ranked Horned Frogs 4,678-4,666 at the NU Rifle Range.

Lorentz, along with Denise Martin fired scores of 584 in smallbore. Lauren Phillips and Maggie Mical added scores of 578 and 576 respectively, and Kelsey Hansen tallied a 574.  The team finished with a score of 2,312. 

For TCU, Sally Li and Hannah Black fired scores of 584, helping the team come out on top after the first discipline with a total score of 2,327.

After smallbore, the Huskers had a lot of ground to make up in air rifle, as the team trailed TCU by 15 points.  Carter's score, along with Lauren Phillips' 589, helped the Huskers make up some of the deficit.  NU beat the Frogs in air rifle by a score of 2,354-2,351, but the team was not able to get the overall victory.

Nebraska's final regular-season home match against Navy was canceled by winter weather across the Midwest.
