Rachel Martin fired top scores in both events, including a career-best air rifle score of 594, to help the seventh-ranked Nebraska rifle team beat No. 8 Ohio State on Sunday, by a score of 4,675-4,628.
In smallbore, Martin finished with a 583, while Denise Martin tallied a 581. The Huskers’ final team smallbore score was 2,309.
In addition to R. Martin, two other Husker shooters fired air rifle scores of 590 or higher. Lauren Phillips tied her personal-best score with a 593 and Jaycee Carter ended with a 590. The team’s final air rifle score was 2,366.
Remington Lyman and Deanna Binnie finished with top scores for Ohio State. Binnie ended the day with a 578 in smallbore and Lyman shot a 586 in air rifle. The Buckeyes’ total team scores were 2,298 in smallbore and 2,330 in air rifle.
NU has two weeks off before the team travels to Alaska to face Kentucky on Nov. 22 and Alaska-Fairbanks on Nov. 23. Both matches begin at 9 am. These matches will conclude the Huskers' fall season.
