Huskers in 13th Heading into Final Day

Las Cruces, N.M. – The Nebraska men’s golf team produced a 599 total over 36 holes at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Monday, and sit in 13th place heading into Tuesday’s final round.

The Huskers opened with 293 at NMSU Golf Course, a par-71, 7,242-yard layout, before posting 306 in the second round. Tournament host New Mexico State leads the event after shooting 8-under-par 560 on Monday.

Senior Mike Siwa posted the best Husker score of the day with 3-over-par 145. Playing as an individual outside of the Husker lineup, Siwa fired a first-round 74 before shooting an even-par 71 in the second round.

Josh Reinertson is tied for 39th after shooting 4-over-par 146 on Monday. The senior from Gibbon, Neb., fired an opening-round 71 and added 75 in the afternoon.

Seniors Calvin Freeman and Ross Dickson are tied for 54th and 58th, respectively. Freeman carded rounds of 73 and 76 for a 7-over-par 149 score after two rounds. Dickson posted 74 and 76 for an 8-over-par 150 total after 36 holes.

Justin Jennings and Ben Maschka are each tied for 73rd at 12-over-par 154. They both shot opening-round 75s before adding 79 in the second round.

Tuesday’s final round begins at 9:30 a.m. (CT) with a shotgun start.
