Huskers Outshoot Army

Denise Martin and Jaycee Carter led the No. 8 Nebraska rifle team to victory against Army on Sunday in South Carolina. The Huskers defeated Army by a score of 4,659-4,620.

In smallbore, Martin fired a 583, while sophomore Lauren Phillips scored a 581. Rachel Martin added a 578 and senior Kelsey Hansen finished with 577. The Huskers’ final smallbore score was 2,319.

Jaycee Carter finished with the top air rifle score. The sophomore tallied a 589 against Army. Nebraska finished with a team air rifle score of 2,340.

Army finished with a smallbore score of 2,290 and an air rifle score of 2,330. Army’s top performers were Alyssa Gestl and Allen Solida, who finished with a 580 and 576 in smallbore. In air rifle, Josh Martin shot a 587.

The Huskers will have a bye week to prepare for Memphis and Ohio State on Nov. 1-2 in Memphis, Tenn.
