Huskers Swim Past Alumni in Annual Meet

Lincoln, Neb.- Nebraska captured a 73-56 victory in the 11th-annual Alumni Meet. A total of 21 alumni returned to the Devaney Natatorium Saturday morning to witness the current Huskers capture victories in five of the meet's eight events.

Nebraska's 200-yard medley relay team of Cassandra Brassard, Jordan Ehly, Amanda Moran and Aimee Fischer, captured Nebraska's first victory of the day.  The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Erin Oeltjen, Katt Sickle, Jacqueline Juffer and Kelly Dunn completed the Huskers' sweep of the relay events.  

Taryn Collura and Ehly earned individual victories for Nebraska. Collura captured the 50-yard butterfly, while Ehly swam to a victory in the 50-yard breaststroke. A pair of Nebraska divers earned first-place finished in the one-meter diving event.

Former Husker Mike Irvin won three events for the third consecutive year, claiming the 50-yard backstroke, 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard individual medley titles. The former All-American has competed in and won at least one event in all 11 alumni meets.

Nebraska has less than one week to prepare for its regular-season opener in Iowa City against Iowa and Michigan. The meet opens Friday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m., and continues Saturday at 10 a.m.
