Huskers Spend First Full Day in OKC

Oklahoma City - The 14th-seeded Nebraska softball team spent its first full day in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, one day before it opens the 2013 Women’s College World Series against No. 11 seed Washington.

All eight teams in the 2013 WCWS field were allotted two hours for practice at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium on Wednesday. Prior to practice, the Huskers met with ESPN producers and the announcing crew of Jessica Mendoza, Beth Mowins, Holly Rowe, Michelle Smith and Pam Ward, posing for photos and video headshots.

The team then transitioned for a one-hour hitting practice on one of the complex’s auxiliary fields, before practicing for one hour inside ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. Following practice, the Huskers posed for team photos before leaving the complex. Head Coach Rhonda Revelle and junior pitcher Tatum Edwards returned to the stadium in the afternoon for a press conference feature Nebraska, Washington, Tennessee and Florida, the four teams in the Huskers’ half of the bracket.

The Huskers arrived in Oklahoma City early Tuesday evening, less than 36 hours after arriving in Lincoln following their trip home from the Eugene (Ore.) Super Regional. Nebraska attended a team reception on Wednesday night, an event that included a brief question-and-answer session with Husker sophomore co-captain Mattie Fowler, more team pictures and a video session to film material for the video screens inside ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.

Following all of the pre-tournament festivities, the Huskers have turned their full attention to Thursday’s game with Washington. Nebraska and Washington meet at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the first game of the 2013 Women’s College World Series. The game will be televised live on ESPN2, with Pam Ward, Michelle Smith and Holly Rowe on the call.
