A longtime Nebraska football season ticketholder watched most of Tuesday night's first game in the NBA Championship series and when it became obvious that Oklahoma City would prevail at home over Miami, he turned off his TV and said what countless other Husker fans may have been saying last night: "The only reason I watched that game was because nothing else was on," Steve Sorum said. "What I'm really looking forward to are the classic football games on BTN. I've watched our biggest comeback win over Ohio State four or five times now. It's a classic, so it never gets old."

A longtime resident of Lincoln, Sorum calibrated his DVR for 2:30 p.m. CT Wednesday for another viewing of Nebraska's three-touchdown comeback over Ohio State last October. He also DVR'ed all three Nebraska "classic games that night: 1) Nebraska's 70-69 basketball upset of Indiana last January; 2) Nebraska's 24-17 come-from-behind win over Miami in the 1995 Orange Bowl, giving Tom Osborne his first of three national championships; and 3) Nebraska's 42-17 mastery of Peyton Manning and Tennessee in the 1998 Orange Bowl. That last game enabled Osborne to complete his national championship hat trick and exit coaching with 60 wins and 3 losses in his last 63 games - the greatest coaching exclamation point in college football history.

If you missed the classics on Wednesday, don't worry. You have two more BTN Nebraska Days this summer - on Thursday, July 5, and on Monday, July 30, so circle your calendars now, and next time, please make sure you check the highlight reel for other sports, including Nebraska's three championship teams in the Huskers' first year in the Big Ten: 1) Nebraska's 17-3 volleyball season that snapped four-time reigning national champion Penn State's remarkable eight-year run atop the Big Ten; 2) the Husker women's exciting Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championship at the Bob Devaney Sports Center; and 3) Nebraska's first Big Ten championship in women's gymnastics, a suitable bookend for the Huskers' 2011 Big 12 title.

Bottom line, Nebraska is blessed to get classic games and championship performances featured regularly on BTN, the gold standard for college athletics because it was the Big Ten was the first conference to achieve national market share. BTN, in fact, is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise while other leagues are still trying to figure out how to finance and build such a network. Since Nebraska owns 1-12th of this powerful asset, we encourage Big Red fans everywhere to tune in often and know they're supporting the Huskers just as much as they're supporting the Big Ten.
